Privacy

Your games are yours. On iPhone, everything stays on your iPhone. On the web, it's kept for seven days at a page named for your username, which anyone can open, then deleted. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking.

On Your iPhone

The app downloads your games, Stockfish scores them on the phone, and the games, their scores and how your rounds ended are kept on your iPhone only. Nothing syncs to iCloud and nothing passes through a server of ours. Change Player removes your games and rounds; deleting the app removes everything.

On the Web

When you play in your browser at rematchess.com, our server downloads your games from Lichess or Chess.com for you. Stockfish scores them in your browser, and our server keeps the games, those scores and how your rounds ended at your page: rematchess.com/li/ (Lichess) or /cc/ (Chess.com) and your username. Seven days later everything there is deleted; opening the page again downloads your games again.

There's no password and the page isn't private: anyone who opens it sees the same games, scores and rounds, and can play rounds there too. Your games are public on Lichess and Chess.com already. Like any website, our server sees your IP address when you visit.

Lichess and Chess.com

Rematchess asks Lichess or Chess.com for the games anyone can see on a player's public profile, using the username you enter, and never asks for a password. On iPhone the request goes straight from your phone; on the web our server makes it. Either site sees it like any other request, under Lichess's privacy policy or Chess.com's privacy policy.

What We Don't Do

  • No ads, and no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No accounts, and no cookies for tracking.
  • No analytics or tracking code in the app, in the web version or on this site.
  • We don't sell or share anything about you.

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple sends us its anonymous crash reports and usage numbers. You can turn that off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

This Website

It sets no cookies and has no analytics. Its pages come through Cloudflare, and their styling from jsDelivr, a public code host; like any website, both see your IP address when you visit.

Changes

If what Rematchess does with your data changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
